CHRIS BRADY (TENOR)
Chris is tenor section lead of the Major Oak Chorus, and sings the warbly high pitched harmony bits, unless we let him sing the occasional solo. He is a hairdresser by profession ("I'm an artiste!!"), and is therefore the closest link the quartet, and indeed the chorus has to the literal and original meaning and spirit of the Barbershop Harmony Style. Chris is very musical, regularly wielding the drumsticks in a well-known local band, "The Crew", and he also plays saxophone. He is the one on the left.
GLENN CHANEY (LEAD)
Glenn is the founding director of both the Major Oak Chorus, and our sister chorus, the Championship-winning ladies Barbershop Chorus, The Lace City Singers. He is our most experienced barbershopper with 25+ years association with the genre, and has achieved remarkable success with The Lace City Singers, three times Sweet Adelines Regional Champions, and placed 18th at the 2007 Sweet Adelines International Convention in Calgary, Canada. He will be taking them to the 2009 International Convention in Nashville in 2009, having won the 2008 Region 31 contest with an unprecedented 669 points. We hope he will achieve similarly great things with the Oakies. He is currently a
professional singing teacher in Nottingham. Glenn sings Lead in the quartet (ie "the tune"), although he has sung baritone and tenor in previous quartets, sometimes simultaneously! In the picture above, he is the one second from left.
ADRIAN ARMSTRONG (BARITONE)
Adrian is the thoughtful, philosphical, musing, gentle member of the quartet. By profession, he is a Kindergarten teacher at Iona School in Nottingham. Adrian is a very experienced musician, an accomplished classical and rock guitarist, and he plays guitar in a Nottingham-based classic rock band, "Darkhorse". He is Baritone section leader with the MOC. The baritone part is often described as the left-over bits that none of the other parts could be bothered with (or something like that), and baritones traditionally are the butt of most barbershop jokes. (We would like to reassure you that four blokes singin' is committed to maintaining the highest standards of barbershop tradition). Adrian is to the right of the picture.
STEVE COX (BASS)
Steve is a Family Doctor. He sings bass. He is the bass section leader of the Oakies. He plays the piano (a bit). His job is to sing the low notes. He tries to do his job. He is second from right, next to Ade.
