four blokes singin'
ABOUT THE QUARTET

four blokes singin' (Chris, Glenn, Adrian and Steve) came into being in 2004, shortly after the formation of Nottingham's Major Oak Chorus, of which Glenn is the founding director.

We are an a capella quartet, with most of our current repertoire being in the Barbershop style

We are all active members of the Major Oak Barbershop Chorus, based in Nottingham.

The quartet is available for functions of all kinds by prior arrangement - please see our contact page for further information.

  • We are indebted to our coaches, John and Jane Grant,  Alyson Chaney, Ellie Mills (Bass in the International Rising Star Gold Medal quartet Luminous), Sandra Lea-Riley, (Bass in the Gold Medal winning quartet Eu4ia), multiple medal-winner Rob Barber and Claire Gardiner for their enthusiasm and support in helping us to improve our skills. We have benefited tremendously from their expertise, and this resulted in our being placed 7th in the BABS Quartet Semifinals in Scarborough in May 2007. We were thrilled to open the Quartet Final Contest as Mic Warmer No1 in 2007.
  • October 2007 saw us qualify for the Quartet Semi-finals in Cheltenham (May 2008) in 11th place with our substitute Lead, Mat Bateman. At convention, restored to our original line-up, we qualified for a place in the Quartet Finals, eventually achieving 6th place.

We are currently working on expanding our repertoire, and are most grateful to Tim Waurick who compiles the most accurate and detailed learning tracks you are ever likely to hear. If you sing barbershop, either in chorus or in quartet, then his website is well worth a visit. (See also "Useful Links")
